Overview

The Mochi phone screening is the first step in Maki’s hiring process. It’s a short, structured conversation designed to evaluate whether a candidate should move forward to later stages. Mochi helps automate scheduling, reminders, and data collection — so recruiters can focus on having meaningful conversations.

Purpose

  • Assess role fit based on key skills and experiences.

  • Understand the candidate’s motivation and expectations.

  • Provide a positive and efficient candidate experience.

  • Gather enough insights to make a clear go/no-go decision for the next step.

How it works

  • Scheduling

    • Upon applying to a role, Mochi will automatically send an invitation via SMS to the candidate.

  • During the Call

    • Mochi will ask the candidate the admin questions that are pre-set for the screening

    • Mochi will be able to answer any questions the candidate may have, such as 'What is the salary for this role?'.

      • If the answer is unknown, Mochi will ask the candidate to reach out to the recruiter directly

  • After the Call

    • Mochi will generate scores (if skills based activities are used)

  • You will have a view of all the admin question answers directly in your dashboard

  • You will be able to listen back to the transcript if you wish
