What is it?

The Mochi phone screening is the first interview in the hiring process. It’s a short, friendly call designed to help both sides get to know each other better. You’ll chat with our AI-powered agent about your experience and motivation. You may also be asked some behavioral questions to test your abilities in certain scenarios.

What to expect

Duration: Often around 10-15 minutes
Format: Phone call
Hosted by: Our AI-powered screening agent

This can cover:

  • Admin questions linked to your suitability for the role

  • Your professional background and key experiences

  • A few scenario or skills-based questions

  • Time for your questions at the end

How to prepare

  1. Find a quiet spot with a stable phone network - avoid using earphones or headphones.

  2. Review the job description — make sure you understand the role’s key skills.

  3. Think about your story — what motivates you, what you’ve achieved and what you're looking for in your next role.

  4. Prepare questions — you can even ask Mochi certain questions linked to the role.

You will receive a text message inviting you to your phone screening via the phone number provided in your job application. All you need to do is reply, and the agent will call you to begin the screening. If you lose connection - don't panic! You will receive a follow up text, where you can initiate the screening call again.
