To give you more flexibility, Maki now allows admin users to create custom recruiter roles tailored to your organization. This helps reduce confusion caused by irrelevant roles shared across clients.

You’ll find this feature under the Roles section in your account settings.

⚠️ Important note
Creating or updating roles requires the settings_update permission.
For default roles, only Admins have this permission and can create or update roles.

Steps

⚠️ Important note
Viewing roles is only possible for users who have the user_view permission.

💡 Tip
When creating a new role, users can only include permissions they already have.
For example, a user with Role A cannot create Role B with permissions that are not included in Role A.

  1. Go to Settings (bottom left of your screen)

  2. Click on Organization, then Roles

  3. View the default roles (they are automatically created and cannot be modified)

  4. Click Create role

  5. Enter a role name in the section role slug

  6. Check all the permissions you want to grant this role

  7. Click Create role

💡 Tip
Custom roles are marked with a small ⓘ icon next to their name, so you can easily distinguish them.

⚠️ Important note
It is not yet possible to delete a custom role. We invite you to only create a role if it is necessary.

Editing custom roles

You can update a custom role anytime:

  1. Click the pencil icon next to the role

  2. Modify its permissions as needed

  3. It's also possible to add translations for the role name, in order to add it : select a language and enter the translated version.

💡 Tip
Adding translations to your role name helps multilingual teams navigate more easily.

Assigning the custom role to members

⚠️ Important note
Assigning roles to other users requires the user_update permission.

  1. Go to the Members section

  2. Click the pencil icon next to the recruiter you want to update

  3. Select the new custom role

  4. Confirm your changes

Our official existing roles remain unchanged and cannot be modified. If you’d like to learn more about these default roles, you can read this Help Center article:
