What are expiration dates on assessments?

Expiration dates refer to the deadline by which an assessment must be completed. After this date, the assessment becomes inactive, meaning that participants can no longer access or submit their responses. The time frame of the expiration date begins as soon as a candidate is invited to an assessment.

Please note that expiration dates are not mandatory, and it is entirely up to you whether you deem them necessary for you assessment.

Are expiration dates important?

You do not have to set up an expiration date on your assessment, but if you choose to, below are some benefits of doing so:

  1. Timely Completion: Expiration dates encourage participants to complete assessments within a designated timeframe.

  2. Project Management: Helps keep your assessments aligned with project timelines or compliance requirements.

How to set or change an expiration date

Create your assessment as normal on your Maki dashboard. You can then modify the expiration date by accessing the assessment in your dashboard and updating the deadline. Once the expiration date passes, participants will no longer be able to access the assessment link; it will show as expired when candidates try to access it.

Extending Expired Assessments: If an assessment link has expired for a candidate and you need to extend it, reach out by email at [email protected] and we will be happy to help.

Best Practices for Managing Expiration Dates

  • Set Reasonable Timeframes: Choose expiration dates that allow enough time for participants to complete the assessment, but not so long that it delays your project.

  • Send Reminders: Use automated reminders to notify participants as the deadline approaches. To learn how to send reminders, please consult this article.

  • Monitor Progress: Keep track of assessments nearing expiration in your dashboard and adjust deadlines as needed.
