Video Recording Features

We have introduced several new features to optimize the video recording process:

  • Multiple takes: Candidates can record multiple versions of their response and select the best one for submission.

  • Preparation timer: A countdown timer allows candidates time to prepare before the recording begins automatically.

  • Between-Takes timer: A timer between takes provides candidates with a brief pause before starting the next recording.

  • Minimum length warning: Alerts are triggered if the recorded video is shorter than the required minimum time.

  • Maximum recording time: The recording will automatically submit once the maximum time limit is reached.

  • Default selected take: If the candidate does not choose a video, the last recorded version will be uploaded.

  • Hardware selection during the assessment: Candidates can now change their camera and/or microphone while completing the video activity. They can click the settings button during the assessment, choose their devices from the drawer, and close it to apply the changes.

To save the hardware changes, candidates can simply select the desired input device and close the drawer.

Benefits of these features

  • Prevents incomplete submissions: Reduces the risk of upload delays causing incomplete videos.

  • Enhances candidate performance: Allows candidates to showcase their best work, improving the accuracy of AI-driven analysis.

Setting up a video assessment activity

To ensure the video assessment is both effective and manageable, we recommend the following settings for a 10-minute video assessment activity.

Sample configuration for a 10-minute assessment:

  • Preparation time: 1 minute

Candidates are given time to gather their thoughts before the recording starts.

  • Between-takes time: 30 seconds

A short pause is provided between takes to allow candidates to reset.

  • Maximum number of takes: 4

Candidates are allowed to record up to 4 takes and select the best version for submission.

  • Maximum recording length: 5 minutes

Each take can be up to 5 minutes long. The system will automatically submit the recording when the time limit is reached.

While the total time may slightly exceed 10 minutes due to the preparation and between-takes time, candidates are not required to use all the available takes and can submit their video earlier if preferred.

Best practices:

  • Encourage multiple takes: This allows candidates to refine their responses and submit their best version.

  • Set realistic time limits: Ensure the maximum recording length allows candidates to respond thoroughly without exceeding the time limit.

  • Use timers strategically: Preparation and between-takes timers help candidates manage their time effectively.

  • Use a compatible browser: We recommend using Google Chrome or Firefox for the best experience.

  • Use a computer rather than a smartphone: While the assessment may technically work on smartphones, we strongly advise using a desktop or laptop device to ensure optimal video quality and interface compatibility.

  • Check your network connection: A stable and strong internet connection is key to a smooth assessment experience. We also recommend verifying whether you receive any alerts related to your network before starting.
