The features below protect your recruitment process in order to ensure fairness. They also help in saving you time and resources by preventing fraud. Let’s explore how these features enhance the reliability of your assessments and streamline your recruitment efforts.

Multiple Face Detection

This feature detects if there are more than one face (or more than one person) present during the activity. It takes a series of pictures every 30 seconds on the back end and Maki will alert or tag the candidate as high risk if there are two faces recognized while the candidate is taking the assessment.

If there is no risk of fraud, the system will still take screenshots of the candidate and save it under their profile for recognition. This could be helpful to the recruiters to identify if it is indeed the candidate who is taking all the activities of a given assessment.

We will also be adding a label on the candidate’s profile in cases that they do not authorize the use of their camera during the assessment.

Device Fingerprint

When this feature is activated, the system is able to detect if the candidate has already completed the same assessment but used a different email address. We use a combination of 70+ different factors (ranging from their equipment type, to IP address, browser configurations, etc.) to identify if the same device had been used in a previous application. The recruiter can also access the profile in which we detected the same fingerprint so they are able to look into it from their end.

Candidate Geolocation via IP Address

This feature detects if the assessment was accessed or answered with more than 2 IP addresses. We tag this candidate as a “fraud risk” as there’s a possibility that they are asking other people to complete the assessment for them.

AI Detection on Free Answer

This feature enables us to detect if the candidate is using AI or any other tools powered by AI on the answers they have provided for the free text questions that we have within the assessment.

Focus Out Detection

This feature detects if the candidate clicks outside of the assessment tab while taking the activities. If we are able to detect that they clicked outside of Maki more than 5 times, we automatically tag them as a fraud risk.

Force Fullscreen Mode

The assessment will automatically launch into full screen when the candidate starts the assessment if this feature is activated. If the candidate tries to close the full screen, we display a pop up saying that the assessment will be submitted automatically if they continue. This should force them to go back to full screen mode and complete the whole activity.

Country Whitelist

Using this feature, you can specify from which countries you would allow your candidates to connect from. Candidates from non-whitelisted countries won’t be able to take the assessment at all.

How to activate the proctoring settings of Maki?

For now, the option to activate these features is not available in your Maki account. You will need to reach out to your CSM or Onboarding Specialist to let them know which proctoring features you would like to activate.

How to know if a candidate is suspected cheater?

If any of the anti-cheating features is activated, a Suspected Cheater column will automatically be available in your candidate’s list which shows if a candidate is a risk or not.

If you want to know more about the risk, all you have to do is click on the candidate’s name and it should open up their Maki profile. You just have to click on the Proctoring tab to find out why this candidate is tagged as a risk for fraud.

Maki should be able to show you the different proctoring features activated for this assessment and the reason why the candidate is a suspected cheater.

This should help you decide if you would still like to pursue the application of the candidate or turn them down completely.
