💡 Availability
The Scoring Override feature is available to all users except those with the Interviewer role. If you don't see the override option, check your role with your account administrator or contact Maki's support team.
When should I use the Scoring Override?
There is no fixed rule. The decision is yours as a recruiter, based on your own assessment of the candidate. The override is designed for cases where you feel the score doesn't fairly reflect the candidate's performance, or where an anomaly occurred (e.g. a technical issue during the assessment).
What can be overridden?
You can override scores on the following activity types:
AI Grid activities (at the subdimension level)
FLATS / SLATS assessments (at the dimension level)
AI Grid screenings
Conversational FLATS screenings
💡Note: You cannot directly override global or aggregated scores. Overrides always apply to individual AI-scored dimensions. The overall score is then automatically recalculated.
ℹ️ FLATS and SLATS are Maki's language proficiency scoring algorithms.
FLATS is used for Written Proficiency and Spoken Proficiency without pronunciation scoring.
SLATS is used for Spoken Proficiency with pronunciation scoring.
Step-by-step: how to override a score
Step 1 – Open the candidate's results
In the recruiter app, go to the relevant screening or assessment activity, select the candidate, and navigate to the Skills discovery tab.
You will see the list of assessed subdimensions. Each one displays an AI score automatically generated.
⚠️ If a manual override has already been applied, an overridden score will also appear alongside the original AI score.
Step 2 – Open the subdimension detail
Click on a subdimension to open its detail panel. At the bottom, click "Edit this score".
Step 3 – Fill in the override
A modal will appear. Enter:
A new score (between 0 and 100)
An override reason (required — briefly explain why you are modifying the score)
Then click Save changes.
Step 4 – Review the updated results
Once saved, the interface updates automatically:
The subdimension shows the new overridden score, with the original AI score still visible for reference
The override reason and the name of the person who made the change are displayed
The dimension score and the overall screening score are recalculated to reflect the change
CEFR levels (if applicable) are updated accordingly
Can I override a score more than once?
Yes. You can override a score as many times as needed. Each override is saved in the history, which you can consult to track all changes made to a given score.
Who made the change? Can I track overrides?
Yes. Every override is fully traceable. The interface displays:
The adjusted score
The reason provided
The name of the person who made the change
This ensures full transparency and accountability across your team.
