🔁 Retake Requests

Can I retake my assessment or try again?

You can only retake an activity or assessment if a technical issue occurred. In these cases, our team will review the situation to determine if a retake is appropriate.

Outside of this, each activity can only be completed once to ensure fairness for all candidates.

If you feel your assessment has been unfairly impacted by a technical issue, please get in touch at [email protected] and we will be happy to look into this for you!

What happens if my assessment expired?

Unfortunately, once your assessment has expired, we’re unable to reopen it or issue a new link.


🔗 Access & Link Issues

I haven’t received my assessment link — what should I do?

First, check your spam or junk folders, sometimes assessment invitations can end up there. Please note that assessment links can take a couple of days to arrive.

If you haven’t received your link after 3 working days, please contact us at [email protected], and we’ll investigate.

My link is expired or not working — can I get a new one?

If your link isn’t working, try opening it using Google Chrome and/or a different internet connection.

If that doesn’t resolve the issue, please email us at [email protected] with a description and screenshot of the problem.

If your link has expired, we’re unfortunately unable to provide a new one.


📱 Device & Browser Compatibility

Can I use my phone or tablet for the assessment?

We strongly recommend using a desktop or laptop to complete your assessment.

For certain activities (e.g. typing tests), a desktop device is required due to the nature of the task.

Which browsers and devices are supported?

Use the latest version of Google Chrome on a desktop or laptop computer.

We do not recommend using mobile devices or tablets, as this can lead to technical issues.

Why does my browser say the site is not compatible?

Please make sure you're using Google Chrome.

⌨️ During the Assessment

Why did my test end abruptly?

Most activities are timed — this is clearly indicated at the beginning of each one. A countdown timer is always visible at the top of the screen.

Additionally, if the assessment requires fullscreen mode and you exit it, you’ll receive a warning. If you exit again, the test will automatically end.

Why does it say I've already completed this activity?

If you’ve completed the same activity on Maki within the past six months, your results are saved and reused — no need to retake.

This applies to all candidates and ensures fairness in the hiring process.

Can I take a break in the middle of an activity?

No — once the timer starts, the activity must be completed in one go.

However, you can take breaks between activities within the same assessment, as long as you complete everything before the expiration date.

Can I change the language of my assessment?

If your assessment is available in another language, there will be a small globe icon in the top corner of your assessment screen. You can click on it and choose an alternative language.

However, please note that the majority of assessments are only available in one language due to the requirements of the role. In this instance, you can only take the assessment in the language chosen by the company you applied to.


🐌 Performance Issues

Why isn’t my test loading or responding?

Try refreshing the page and ensure you're using Google Chrome with strong internet connection.

Close any unnecessary tabs or apps that may slow down performance.

Lastly, try to access your assessment from another computer.

What should I do if the screen freezes or goes blank?

  • Refresh the browser.

  • Clear your cache and cookies.

  • Switch to Google Chrome if you’re using another browser.

  • Ensure you have a strong internet connection.

  • Try again using a different device.

🎙️ Camera & Audio Setup

Why is my camera or microphone not detected?

This may be due to browser permissions or device settings. Make sure your browser has access to your camera and microphone.

How do I enable browser permissions for video/audio?

In Google Chrome, click the lock icon 🔒 in the address bar. From there, ensure that Camera and Microphone are set to “Allow.”


📧 Profile & Email Problems

Can I change my email address or correct my name?

Unfortunately it is not possible to change the email address or name linked to your assessment. If you wish to change these details on your application, please get in touch with the company you applied to.


📬 Application Status

What happens after I complete the test?

Your results will be automatically submitted to the company you applied with. They will review your responses and get in touch with next steps.

Please note - at Maki People, we provide the assessment platform but are not involved in the hiring process, which means we are not able to share your score or provide updates on your application.

You receive your score at the discretion of your recruiter; some will be sent via email a few days after you complete your assessment. If you haven’t received yours, we are unfortunately unable share it with you.

If you did receive your score but haven’t heard back about next steps after a few weeks, we recommend reaching out directly to the company for an update.

What is the passing score for my assessment?

Assessments do not have pre-determined passing scores. To find out how your activities are scored, check out this Help Centre article - How are my tests scored?

Maki doesn’t determine outcomes — your application is reviewed directly by the hiring team. Keep an eye on your inbox for updates from them.

Who do I contact about my application status?

Please reach out directly to the company you applied with. Maki is the platform hosting the assessment, but we don’t handle hiring decisions.
