An overview:

  1. Classical Scoring (99% of our tests)

    • Single Choice questions + Numerical questions + True or False

    • Multiple Choice questions

  2. Custom Weighted Scoring

    • Single Choice questions

    • Multiple Choice questions

1. Classical scoring (99% of our tests)

Single Choice questions + Numerical questions + True or False

There is only 1 correct answer per question → if the candidate selects it, then the candidate has 1 point.

If the candidate selects an incorrect answer then they will have zero points.

Then we calculate = total number of points per question / the number of questions.

Multiple Choice questions

There are both correct and incorrect answers for each question.

Calculation of the score = Number of correct answers / total number of correct answers - number of wrong answers * 0.5 (with at least 0 point)

Example : Answer 1: Correct, Answer 2: Correct, Answer 3: Incorrect

=> I answer 1 + 3 = 1/2 - 1 * 0.5 = 0

=> I answer 1 = 1/2 - 0 * 0.5 = 0.5

=> I answer 1 + 2 = 2/2 - 0 *0.5 = 1

=> I answer 3 = 0 /2 - 1 * 0.5 = 0

Then we calculate = the total number of points per question / the number of questions.

2. Custom Weighted scoring

The following tests are concerned by this scoring type:

  • Team Management

  • Negotiation

  • Some custom activities for our clients

Using this method, we consider that there are some answers 'better than others'; so each answer will have its own score.

Single Choice questions

Calculation of the score = Number of points of the chosen answer / Score of the answer that has the maximum points.

Example:

Answer 1 = 3 points

Answer 2 = 2 points

Answer 3 = 0 points

Answer 4 = 2 points

Answer 5 = 1 point

My answer is 2, so my score is : 2/3

Calculation of the global score of the test : add up the total number of score per question divided by the number of questions.

Multiple Choice questions

Calculation of the score per question = Sum of the points of the selected answers / Sum of the total points of all (positive) answers

With a possibility to put negative points. (There is a penalty for wrong answers but the candidate's score cannot go below 0%).

Example :

Answer 1 = 3 points

Answer 2 = 3 points

Answer 3 = 2 points

Answer 4 = -1 point

Answer 5 = 0 point

My answer is 2 and 3, so I have 5 points / 8 points = 62% for this question.

Calculation of the global score of the test : We add up the total number of score per question divided by the number of questions

In order to better understand this scoring method and to help our clients to put their “weightings”, you can use the following simulator:
